Egypt Diploma Authentication at Amideast: 2026 Guide for Students

SAT & American Diploma Authentication via Amideast

In 2026, Egypt moved the authentication of SAT scores and American diploma papers into a local, pound-based system. Under the new Egypt diploma authentication Amideast route, papers start at Amideast Egypt. They then move to the Ministry of Education and, finally, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Families no longer pay a foreign accreditation body in dollars.

For parents and students, this raises practical questions. Who stamps what, what does it cost, and which papers still need a certified translation? This guide explains the new process for students applying in Egypt or abroad.

What Changed in 2026

Until 2026, many American diploma schools collected authentication fees in US dollars. They then sent certificates to a US accreditation body for a stamp. Reports in spring 2026 said families often paid far more than the body itself charged.

Then the Ministry of Education stepped in. In July 2026, Al-Dostor reported that the ministry had placed American diploma authentication under its own committee. It also banned schools from collecting stamping fees, and it said the ministry stamp is enough for Egyptian university admission.

Later that month, on 27 July 2026, Enterprise described the full chain. First, Amideast Egypt verifies SAT and diploma documents. Next, the Ministry of Education authenticates them. Finally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs legalises them for use abroad. Meanwhile, the College Board still owns and issues the SAT, so your score report itself does not change.

Who Is Affected?

The change mainly affects two groups:

  • American diploma students at schools in Egypt, who need their diploma and transcripts authenticated.
  • SAT test takers who use their score reports for university admission.

Amideast Egypt also lists other papers it stamps. For example, these include American university degrees and transcripts, US high school diplomas from abroad, and enrolment or accreditation letters. However, it does not stamp birth certificates, HR letters, training certificates or recommendation letters.

What about IGCSE, IB and the French Baccalaureate? Enterprise reported that these systems still follow their own overseas authentication routes. So, if your child holds one of them, confirm the current route with the school first.

How the Egypt Diploma Authentication Amideast Route Works

The exact order can vary by school and destination. Still, most families follow a sequence like this:

  1. Collect final papers from school. These usually include the diploma, the final high school transcript and proof of enrolment for all twelve school years.
  2. Get your SAT or ACT score report. Some universities also ask you to send scores directly with their institution code.
  3. Visit Amideast. Take your national ID and payment receipt to the Dokki (Giza) or Alexandria office. A delegate needs a delegation letter too.
  4. Get the Ministry of Education stamp. The ministry then adds its own authentication.
  5. Legalise at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This step matters most for study abroad, although some Egyptian universities ask for it as well.
  6. Translate last, if needed. A translation made after all the stamps can include those stamps too.

Amideast says it usually returns documents within three working days when no extra verification is needed. However, cases that need checks with the issuing school or accreditor can take longer. Therefore, start the Egypt diploma authentication Amideast process well before admission deadlines.

What Does It Cost?

Amideast Egypt lists its fee as EGP 5,200 per document. Amideast counts a multi-page document as one if its pages are numbered. In addition, Enterprise reported a ministry fee of about EGP 100 per document. Foreign Ministry legalisation carries its own separate fee.

Because a full file can include several papers, the Egypt diploma authentication Amideast bill adds up quickly. So, ask the receiving university exactly which documents it needs stamped before you pay. Amideast itself advises checking with the receiving body, such as the Supreme Council of Universities, the ministry or MOFA.

Applying in Egypt vs Applying Abroad

For Egyptian universities, the key point is that ministry approval is now enough for admission. In other words, the Egypt diploma authentication Amideast chain replaces the old foreign stamp. Nevertheless, each university still publishes its own list. For instance, some private universities ask for SAT certificates stamped by Amideast and the Foreign Ministry.

For universities abroad, the Foreign Ministry step becomes more important. Moreover, your destination may add its own rules. Some countries want an embassy stamp, while others run their own credential review. Therefore, check the admission page of every university on your list.

Where Certified Translation Fits In

An American diploma and SAT report are already in English. As a result, universities in the US, UK or Canada rarely need the certificate itself translated. However, several other papers in a typical file often do:

  • Arabic stamps and endorsements from the Ministry of Education and MOFA, which some foreign universities ask to see in English.
  • Civil documents, such as birth certificates, which student visa files often require.
  • Arabic and religion results, which Egyptian students at international schools take.
  • Equivalency letters and other ministry letters issued in Arabic.
  • Full files for non-English destinations, such as Germany, Italy or France.

At COT, every certified translation carries our official stamp and a translator certification statement. We also translate every stamp, seal and handwritten note, not just the main text. You receive a PDF for online portals and a printed, stamped copy for in-person files. For a quick quote, simply send your papers on WhatsApp.

Mistakes that slow families down

  • Translating too early. A translation made before the final stamps will not cover them.
  • Name mismatches. The student’s name should match the passport on every page.
  • Machine translation. Online tools carry no translator certification.
  • Old fee lists. Since the system changed in 2026, older blog posts may show wrong prices.
