Italy Work Visa Egypt Guide: Decreto Flussi 2026–2028 for Workers

Italy Work Visa from Egypt: Prepare for the 2027 Click Days

Italy’s Decreto Flussi 2026–2028 sets how many non-EU workers can enter Italy each year, and Egypt is on its list of partner countries. If you are building an Italy work visa Egypt plan, the 2026 click days have already passed. However, the rules for the 2027 round are now published, so this is the right time to prepare your side of the file.

The key point is simple. You cannot apply alone, because an Italian employer must request your work clearance first. This guide therefore focuses on what you, as a worker in Egypt, can control: your documents, your translations and your consulate appointment.

How the Decreto Flussi Works in Practice

The Italian government signed the current decree on 2 October 2025, and it covers three years. Each year, it sets separate quotas for seasonal work, non-seasonal employment and a small number of self-employed places. For 2027, the Italian Ministry of Labour lists 89,000 seasonal places, 76,200 non-seasonal places and 650 self-employment places.

Places are not given to workers directly. Instead, employers submit requests online on fixed “click days”. Requests then go through in order of submission until each quota runs out. As a result, timing on the employer’s side matters a great deal.

Does Egypt have a reserved quota?

Yes, but Egypt shares it with other countries. The decree reserves part of the quota for citizens of countries that cooperate with Italy on migration, and Egypt appears on that list. Moreover, the list includes more than thirty other countries, such as Morocco, Tunisia, Pakistan and Bangladesh. So a reserved place improves your chances, but it is not an Egypt-only allocation. We could not confirm one consistent figure for the reserved places, so check the official decree for the current numbers.

The 2027 Click Days: Dates to Know

On 1 October 2026, the Ministry of Labour announced the joint circular for the 2027 round. According to that announcement, employers can pre-fill requests on the Ministry of the Interior’s ALI portal from 23 October to 7 December 2026. After that, the click days are:

  • 12 January 2027 – seasonal agricultural work
  • 9 February 2027 – seasonal tourism work
  • 16 February 2027 – non-seasonal employment
  • 18 February 2027 – domestic and family care work

In practice, employers can only send requests that they pre-filled in the window. Therefore, if an Italian employer has offered you a job, it will need your passport details well before December 2026.

The Italy Work Visa Egypt Process, Step by Step

  1. A real job offer. First, an employer in Italy agrees to hire you and prepares the request.
  2. The nulla osta. Next, the immigration desk at the local Prefecture (Sportello Unico per l’Immigrazione) reviews the request. If it approves, it issues the nulla osta, your work clearance.
  3. The visa in Egypt. Then you apply for a national (type D) work visa through the Italian Embassy in Cairo’s visa system.
  4. Arrival in Italy. Finally, you and your employer complete the residence contract, and you apply for your residence permit within the legal deadline.

In short, every Italy work visa Egypt file starts with the employer, not the worker. Because only employers can file, be careful with agents who promise a “guaranteed” quota place or sell a nulla osta. A genuine clearance always comes from an Italian Prefecture, not from a broker.

Documents the Italian Embassy in Cairo Asks For

The Embassy’s current checklist for subordinate work visas lists these core items:

  • Visa application form, completed, signed and dated
  • Recent passport-size photo, 35×40 mm, on a clear background
  • Passport valid for at least three months beyond the visa, plus copies of the data pages and earlier visas
  • One-way flight booking for the national visa
  • Copy of the nulla osta, issued within the last six months and addressed to the Embassy in Cairo
  • Civil status and identity documents that show your personal profile

In addition, some jobs need extra proof. For example, healthcare workers need prior recognition of their qualifications by the Italian Ministry of Health. Skilled roles may also call for diplomas, vocational certificates or experience letters. Note that the Embassy can request further documents for any case.

Translation and Legalization: What Applies to Egyptians

The Embassy checklist asks for documents either in both languages or with an Italian translation. So, for most Italy work visa Egypt applicants, Arabic-only papers will need an Italian translation.

Before that, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs normally authenticates your documents. Then, according to the Embassy, the VFS centres in Cairo and Alexandria handle the certification of the translation’s conformity. For the MOFA step, see our guide to Egyptian document authentication.

For civil status records, there is also a useful option. The Embassy explains that the Civil Registry office in Abbaseya now issues bilingual certificates with an Italian translation. It strongly recommends this route, since it speeds things up and reduces returned files. So ask for the bilingual version of your birth certificate first.

Certified Translation for Your File: How COT Helps

Many work documents have no bilingual version. For instance, university degrees, transcripts, vocational certificates and experience letters are often only in Arabic. In these cases, you will need a full Italian translation.

COT translates between Arabic and Italian, as well as English. Every certified translation carries our official stamp and a translator certification statement. In addition, we deliver a clear PDF for your employer and a printed, stamped copy for the visa centre. You can also send scans on WhatsApp at 01111760177 for a quote. If you want to understand the different translation types, read certified vs. notarized vs. sworn translation in Egypt.

Each Italian office sets its own format rules, however. So confirm with the Embassy or the receiving authority which form it accepts before you order.

Tips to avoid delays

  • Match your name. Use the exact passport spelling on every translation and on the employer’s request.
  • Translate every stamp. Seals, MOFA stickers and handwritten notes belong in the translation.
  • Start before click day. Authentication and translation take time, and the nulla osta clock starts once the Prefecture issues it.
  • Keep scans ready. Your employer may ask for documents at short notice during pre-filling.

Preparing for an Italy Work Visa Egypt Application Now

The months before the 2027 click days are your preparation window. First, renew your passport if it is close to expiry. Next, collect your degree, training certificates and experience letters, and get them authenticated. Then arrange Italian translations, so your file is ready when the nulla osta arrives.
